CSAT: stop ignoring the qualifying paper
Comprehension drills, maths basics, and a weekly CSAT habit so Paper II never becomes a last-minute panic.
CSAT is qualifying, not scoring for the merit list — and that is exactly why aspirants ignore it until it becomes a threat. One bad Paper II can end an otherwise strong Prelims.
- •Prelims Focus: Institutional mandate, member countries, observer status guidelines, and strategic polar agreements.
- •Mains Focus: GS Paper 2 (Bilateral, regional and global groupings) & GS Paper 3 (Climate and energy security).
Build a weekly habit: 2–3 comprehension passages, a short set of maths/DI questions, and one timed sectional. Track accuracy, not just attempts.
If English comprehension is your weak area, read editorials slowly and summarise paragraphs in one line — the same skill that helps newspaper current affairs.
If maths is weak, master ratios, percentages, averages, and basic algebra before chasing hard puzzles.
In the final month, take full CSAT mocks under exam conditions. Learn elimination and time allocation — do not get stuck on one question.
